Larry, I forgot to tell you that when I was assigned to White House Comm (DCAOC), they changed my secondary to 32Z40 Fixed Station Chief and they tried to get all the 26Y Satcom Station techs to change their primary to 32D but I refused so to punish me they sent me to U-Tapao Thailand TSC-54 Satcom Station. I thought I'd died and went to heaven. But soon as my tour was up in Thailand they brought me right back to DCAOC for another tour and when I wouldn't change again, they sent me back to Ft. Buckner Okinawa where I spent me last year B4 retiring (74-75).

I received training as a 291X0-Communications Centrer Specialist. I wrote the
following job description down in my little blue book after I received my tech
school assignment: "Studies and applies procedures for sending and receiving
teletype and data messages including cryptographic processing for Air Force
teletypewriter circuits and automatic networks of the Defense Communications
System. Studies procedures and operations of teletypewriter equipment and
switching systems."
I went to Udorn as an E-4, and was swing shift supervisor on the base
administration switchboard. I sometimes worked as the secure voice operator.
After the initial flurry of immediate traffic on a shift things slowed down somewhat,
and I was able to make personal calls home for some of the guys. If things were
really slow, and we were bored, we knew a number for dial a prayer, called that
number, and hooked some unsuspecting soul up to it.
