I finished Chanute in Dec 68, 43131E, Acft Mech, Jet over 2 went PCS to
KI Sawyer an assigned as a 3 level wiper on
B-52H 60-031, one of the last BUFF's to be in the bare metal, grey and
white color scheme......still have pictures of her...pretty.

Went PCS in Oct 69 to U-T and assigned to Maint Team 12, B Flight, as
ACC on D model BUFF 55-067 which was replaced by 55-097 in Jan 70 when
she went to IRAN facility. Awarded 5 level around my 20th birthday in
February and in June of 70, was assigned as Crew Cheif of 55-086 and
still an A1c, ....didn't make Buck Sgt till Oct 70 just before my DEROS.

Team 12 aircraft were assigned on V row, spots 1 thru 5, directly at the
base of the hill under Uncle Ned tower and Julie row, spots 1 thru 4,
which was the 1st row facting the active. The noisiest, loneliest but
best parking spot was V-1. It was single open area, no reventment, next
to the fuel bladders, along side the runup area adjencient to the runway.

It was one of two parking spots on the bomber side, where we could park
an acft without a Uke & Tow Bar..... if the A/C had his shit together....
if he obeyed and followed the Crew Chiefs marshalling signals...we could
nose the acft into the stub.....crank in some crab, spin it...just like
on the SAC ALERT Christmas Trees. I probably spent 40% of my time at U-T
assigned to V-1.....I did take some great pictures

DEROSed back to Wurtsmith and H models, ACC on 60-009 and 61-015.
